Overview
The Ourika Valley is the closest mountain escape from Marrakech: a lush green valley in the first foothills of the High Atlas, dotted with Berber villages, terraced fields and waterfalls. Despite being so close to the Red City, the valley keeps its traditional, unspoiled way of life, making it the perfect day trip to discover rural Morocco.

Itinerary
Pick-up at 9:00 from your accommodation in Marrakech and drive to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, then along the Ourika Valley past a succession of villages clinging to the mountainside, with photo stops to admire the changing colours of the landscape.
The first stop is at the home of a Berber family living in the valley, who welcome you with mint tea and a traditional breakfast of bread, honey, olive oil and butter. Continue deeper into the valley, with the option of a short camel ride.
Next comes Setti Fatma, a favourite weekend destination for Moroccans, famous for its streams and waterfalls. With a local guide, hike up to the waterfalls, crossing small Berber bridges and enjoying views of the green terraces and the surrounding mountains. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as some sections involve climbing over rocks.
After the hike, enjoy lunch with a beautiful mountain view (Moroccan dishes, vegetarian options available). Return to Marrakech around 17:00.
